Siegfried Nootz (aka Sigi Nootz)
Born: 1.April 1958, in Kevelaer, Germany

**Artistic Practice**
- Acrylic paintings on canvas, wood- and linoleum-cuts and small sculptures 1978 to 2005.
- Wall sculptures and relief objects since approx. 2007, focusing on 'giving language and concepts a tangible face' ("Worten ein Gesicht geben").
- Core elements: routed wooden panels (multiplex), elemental color palette (red, yellow, blue, black, white, grey nuances), golden ratio proportions for dynamic tension and balance, relief depth through milling and material layering.
- Influences: Piet Mondrian (pure colors), Joseph Beuys (expanded concept of art via Franz Joseph van der Grinten).
- Additional explorations: metal grids, charred rocket sticks, embossed graphic prints.

**Education & Artistic Formation**
- 1978 Abitur, Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck (Goch)
- Participation in art programs and advanced art course (Kunstleistungskurs) under Franz Joseph van der Grinten (1971–1993 teacher and curator at the school).
- Franz Joseph van der Grinten was mentor all through the years, owning several of my artworks. Some hanging in his living room.
- Involvement in group projects, exhibitions (including Kranenburg)
- Study trips to museums mainly in NRW, Netherlands, and Belgium.
